Cultivaris CEO Garry Grueber retires

“Garry Grueber’s name will forever be linked to groundbreaking product innovations such as Petunia Surfinia, Euphorbia ‘Diamond Frost’, Cleome ‘Senorita Rosalita’, Erysimum, Bacopa and Scaevola, as well as brand concepts like Herbstzauber and Frühlingsflirt. He is also a co-founder of the international Proven Winners network and, not least, the driving force behind the introduction of Hydrangea Runaway Bride.”

“After many decades of intensive work and extensive travel across the globe, the time has come to take a small step back,” says Garry Grueber. He adds, “I am happy and grateful to leave behind an almost inexhaustible field of innovative opportunities for the next generation of growers, plant scouts and product managers.”

In January 2026, Garry will hand over the management of Cultivaris GmbH and withdraw from this part of the company’s operational activities. His responsibilities will be taken over by his long-time partner at Cultivaris GmbH, Robert Wacker, who has previously been responsible for sales and finance.

Through his advisory firm, Garry Grueber Consulting, he will remain a key contact for interested growers, producers and the trade. “I don’t want to go from one hundred to zero,” Garry Grueber explains. “I want to continue serving the industry and put my knowledge and experience to good use. At the same time, I will be stepping down from roles such as my position on the advisory board of IPM Essen.”

He is convinced that innovative breeding will continue to inspire future generations of plant enthusiasts in the coming decades, even though the sector is currently undergoing major changes. “I will continue to follow developments from a ‘quiet perspective,’ but I’m also happy to have more time for my hobbies,” Garry Grueber emphasizes at the end of his successful, decades-long career.
