Könst celebrates 80 years of dedication to the art of breeding

Könst Alstroemeria proudly marks a special milestone: 80 years of dedication to the art of breeding. Since its foundation in 1946, the family-owned company has focused on creating distinctive, reliable, and inspiring genetic innovations in cut flowers, with a clear focus on Alstroemeria and, later, Calla as well. This anniversary is not only a celebration of heritage, but also a tribute to the growers, partners, employees, and industry colleagues who have been part of this journey.

For eight decades, Könst’s philosophy has remained unchanged: breeding with purpose, working with integrity, and adding value across the entire chain. What started as a small, passionate breeding initiative has grown into a globally respected brand, recognized for quality, consistency, and trust. Today, Könst operates through locations and long-term partnerships in all key Alstroemeria production countries, including Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Japan, Kenya, and The Netherlands.

The 80-year anniversary celebrations will start next week in Kenya, during the United Selections Open Day in Nakuru. As part of this week, the Könst anniversary will be marked together with colleagues, growers, and partners. The week will conclude on Friday evening with a BBQ and drinks, creating an informal moment to connect, reflect, and celebrate this milestone together.

Throughout 2026, Könst will continue to highlight its anniversary through a series of shared moments across its global locations. From open days and regional events to product showcases and dedicated content developed together with teams and partners, each moment will reflect the company’s roots, progress, and vision for the future.
