HortEx gets ready for first Thailand edition

For the eighth time, horticultural trade show HortEx is about to kick off. But for the first time, this is taking place in Bangkok, Thailand. Taking place from 20–22 May 2026 at BITEC, Bangkok, and co-located with Agritechnica ASIA, HortEx 2026 is ready to bring knowledge, collaboration, and the latest developments to growers and suppliers in the region.

“HortEx is Asia’s premier trade fair for horticultural and floricultural production and processing technology. First launched in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in 2018, the event has been successfully held annually, drawing hundreds of international and local exhibitors, as well as thousands of trade visitors from Vietnam and around the world. Now, the first Thailand edition of the show is about to kick off”, says Kuno Jacobs, Nova Exhibition. “Bringing together industry leaders, innovators, growers, distributors, and technology providers from across the region and beyond, the events will showcase the latest advancements in smart farming, mechanization, horticulture, floriculture, and post-harvest technology. “

Two years ago, the organizers of HortEx Vietnam, Nova Exhibitions from the Netherlands and VEAS from Vietnam, announced a collaboration with DLG (German Agricultural Society), organizer of Agritechnica, an agricultural machinery exhibition held biennially in Hanover, Germany, to co-locate HortEx Vietnam together with Agritechnica Asia in an annual cycle, alternating between Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Bangkok, Thailand. The first edition launched successfully in 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City, and Bangkok will follow this week.

“We look forward to another successful edition, as we’ve seen that we are stronger together. Both the agricultural and horticultural industries in Southeast Asia are developing at a rapid pace, and we’re happy to contribute with our events, focused on knowledge-sharing, international business and creating new opportunities”, Kuno confirms.

Knowledge-sharing events
The trade show is shaped by several co-events. The Future Farmer Program at HortEx 2026 places farmers at the center of innovation and knowledge exchange. It brings together young farmers, women leaders, and progressive producers from across Asia to engage in technical sessions, peer-to-peer dialogue, curated exhibition tours, and recognition through the Future Farmer Awards.

With support from Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) and Germany’s Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Regional Identity (BMLEH), the Future Farmer Program implements the following activities:

This Wednesday, high-level representatives from ministries, embassies, and international organizations will join the Opening Ceremony. The Applied Technology Trophies will be handed out, and there will be an invite-only DLG Mix & Mingle Evening.

Thursday continues with agribusiness-focused programs for traders, millers, exporters, and dealers, as well as a Startup Day, DLG Hackathons, and the DLG Agrileader Night (by invitation). On Friday, it’s Seeds Day, Asian Farmers Day, and the Future Farmer Award ceremony.

Dutchies present
The Netherlands will present its latest innovations in sustainable and climate-smart horticulture through a dedicated Netherlands Lounge at HortEx 2026. Currently, a Dutch horticultural mission is taking place, organized by the embassies in Bangkok, Hanoi, and Jakarta, together with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD).

“Southeast Asia, home to 500 million people with a combined GDP of US$2.6 trillion, continues to strengthen its geopolitical role and its ambitions for long-term food security. The region faces significant challenges in agro-food production, creating meaningful opportunities for Dutch horticultural expertise, technology, and knowledge sharing,” the organizers say.
