Spotlight on new varieties during Dutch Lily Days 2026

For professionals in the lily sector, the annual Dutch Lily Days represents a moment to meet up and discuss current prominent themes in their business. During the 2026 event (June 2 – 5) thirteen Dutch flower bulb exporters are opening their doors to visitors from near and far. The Dutch Lily Days provide the perfect stage for discovering new varieties and discussing market developments and the possibilities of a sustainable future for lily cultivation.

The Dutch Lily Days is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the latest varieties. The trend favouring double-bloomed lilies is clearly continuing strongly. The modern look of the flower, the absence of pollen and the delicate scent are greatly appreciated by consumers. Stronger versions of double-bloomed Orientals and Asian varieties keep arriving on the market. Plus more pollen-free, single-bloomed lilies are available.

Plasbokaal
The official opening of the Dutch Lily Days takes place on Tuesday, June 2, at Van den Bos Flowerbulbs. During the ceremony, the Plasbokaal 2026 will be awarded. All participants in this competition (not just the Dutch Lily Days participants) received a box of lily bulbs from the same batch in February. The grower who makes the finest bouquet from them is awarded the Plasbokaal. This award was created by Joop van Veen of Kwekerij De Plas quite some time ago, but is being presented during the Dutch Lily Days for the first time.
