Plant Healthy has launched a new sector-specific webpage for Small Businesses and Community Tree Nurseries (CTNs), alongside a new Plant Health Glossary, as part of its wider commitment to making Plant Healthy certification more inclusive and achievable for organisations of all sizes.
Designed specifically for smaller organisations, the new webpage brings together in one place everything needed to get started with Plant Healthy certification. It includes helpful new guidance on achieving the Plant Health Management Standard, making this more accessible, practical and relevant across the sectors. Whether a small business or a Community Tree Nursery, it provides practical examples, free resources and step-by-step support to help users understand and meet the requirements of the Standard.
Recognising that smaller organisations often have limited time and resources; these new resources have been created to make certification simpler and clearer. Together, they provide users with the information, tools and practical support needed to navigate the certification process and build good plant health practices with confidence.

These new resources represent the next stage in the continued evolution of the Plant Healthy website. Further sector-specific webpages are in development for audiences including landscapers and designers, arborists and public gardens, ensuring that guidance is tailored to the specific needs and challenges of this diverse industry.
By developing dedicated resources for each sector, Plant Healthy aims to remove barriers to certification and make it easier for organisations of every size to adopt good plant health practices. Through accessible guidance, practical tools and tailored support, the scheme continues to encourage greater engagement with plant health management across the UK and reinforce the message that protecting plant health is a shared responsibility.
Malcolm Catlin, Chief Executive of Plant Healthy, said: “Ensuring that Plant Healthy is readily accessible to enterprises of all types and sizes is one of our key goals. Community Tree Nurseries are typically very small in scale, but the high-risk nature of tree pests and diseases means their engagement is vital. The new section on our website will help them, and smaller horticultural businesses in general, implement and gain recognition for good biosecurity practice.”
