The adoption of biological solutions continues to gain ground in Colombian floriculture. To bring affiliated companies up to speed on the latest trends, research, and field experience in this area, Ceniflores and Asocolflores held the IV Bioinputs Meeting on July 16, bringing together 125 participants at the Cajicá campus of Universidad Militar Nueva Granada.
Researchers, companies, growers, and experts gathered to analyze the scientific and technological advances driving more efficient and sustainable crop protection management, cementing the event’s reputation as a key technical reference for the sector.

The agenda covered topics of high relevance to the competitiveness of floriculture, including the use of semiochemicals and olfactory cues for thrips management in roses, the development of new bioinsecticide formulations, the application of botanical extracts to interrupt oomycete infection cycles and strengthen the immune response of cut flowers, and the challenges and opportunities that biofertilizers present for production systems.
One of the highlights was the panel “Bioinputs Unfiltered,” in which representatives from flower-growing companies shared their experiences implementing these technologies in the field, enabling an open exchange of lessons learned, challenges, and best practices for on-farm adoption.
The event featured researchers from Universidad Militar Nueva Granada, the Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas y Ambientales (UDCA), and Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, as well as representatives from leading research and development companies including Gowan Company and BASF, who presented technological advances aimed at strengthening the productivity and sustainability of production systems.
Now in its fourth edition, the Bioinputs Meeting continues to establish itself as a knowledge-transfer platform that fosters dialogue between academia, research, and the productive sector, helping affiliated companies discover innovative alternatives to meet the current challenges facing floriculture.
As part of this ongoing strategy, Ceniflores and Asocolflores are already preparing a new edition of the Bioinputs Meeting in Antioquia, which will extend this technical update forum to more companies across the sector. The discussions and advances presented at these events will also continue to be developed within the framework of SIFLOR 2026, where innovation and sustainability will remain central to the Colombian floriculture agenda.
