Heliospectra AB filed for bankruptcy on July 27, 2026. The Gothenburg District Court approved the application later that day and declared the Swedish company bankrupt. As a result, Heliospectra’s shares have been delisted from the Nasdaq First North Growth Market.
Christian Andersch, Attorney-at-Law at Setterwalls Advokatbyrå AB in Gothenburg, has been appointed as bankruptcy trustee.
Heliospectra’s Board of Directors decided to file for bankruptcy after the company was unable to secure a financing solution within the available timeframe. The company had spent an extended period seeking financing to continue its operations. This included discussions with potential investors and an evaluation of various financing and restructuring alternatives.
According to Heliospectra, no solution could be completed that would allow the company to meet its financial obligations.
The company’s principal shareholders had previously stated that they were not prepared to participate in a further financing round on the proposed terms. Weland Stål AB, which had been financing Heliospectra as its sole investor, had also informed the company that it did not intend to continue providing financing.
As no broader financing solution could be secured and no new investor was able to step in within the available timeframe, the Board concluded that Heliospectra was no longer able to meet its payment obligations. The Board subsequently determined that there was no realistic possibility of continuing the company’s operations.
“This is an extremely difficult decision. The Board of Directors and management have worked intensively for an extended period to identify a long-term financing solution and have evaluated several alternatives. Despite these efforts, we have been unable to secure the required capital within the time available. The Board of Directors has therefore concluded that filing for bankruptcy is the only remaining option,” says Andreas Gunnarsson, Chairman of the Board of Heliospectra.
