Ho Thi Ky flower market bustles for Women's Day

On the morning of October 20th, the Ho Thi Ky flower market in Vuon Lai Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, was bustling with buyers and sellers. At the stalls along the narrow walkways, vendors were busy arranging flowers and bouquets, adjusting each petal so that orders would be ready for customers on time. Meanwhile, many people came to the market early to choose fresh bouquets for their mothers, wives, partners, and colleagues in celebration of Vietnamese Women’s Day.

The sound of shoppers asking for prices, the snip of branches being cut, and vendors calling out to one another blended with the steady stream of people coming and going, so the market was almost never still. Colorful bouquets filled every stall, creating a lively scene on the day dedicated to honoring women.

Roses remained a popular choice among customers. Striking red rose bouquets and gentle pink or multicolored arrangements drew shoppers to stop, look, ask for prices, and place orders. Besides simple bouquets, ready-made flower baskets also attracted attention because they were eye-catching and convenient to give as gifts.

Ms. Hai, owner of stall No. 52 on Ho Thi Ky Street, said that starting on the night of October 19th, she had prepared more than 500 flower baskets for the October 20th occasion. According to Ms. Hai, the number of pre-orders was quite large. She also expects walk-in sales at her stall to rise during the holiday so that she can sell all the flowers she has prepared.
