Southeast Asia: A strategic growth market

The Dutch embassies in Bangkok, Hanoi and Jakarta together with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD) are organizing a Dutch Horticultural Mission to Southeast Asia from 17–22 May 2026. Dutch companies active in horticulture and controlled environment agriculture are invited to participate in this mission, which includes a collective presence at HortEx 2026 in Bangkok (20–22 May).

The mission offers Dutch businesses a unique opportunity to explore market developments in Southeast Asia, strengthen partnerships and showcase innovations that contribute to sustainable and climate-resilient food production.

Participation in the mission also includes joining the Netherlands Lounge at HortEx 2026, a key regional exhibition for horticultural and floricultural production technologies.

Southeast Asia: A strategic growth market
Southeast Asia, home to more than 500 million people and a combined GDP exceeding USD 2.6 trillion, continues to strengthen its geopolitical importance while facing increasing pressure to ensure long-term food security. These challenges create significant opportunities for innovative horticultural solutions.

Dutch companies are globally recognized for their expertise in greenhouse technology, seed breeding, irrigation, climate control, biological crop protection and post-harvest solutions. Through this mission, the Netherlands aims to deepen cooperation with Southeast Asian partners and contribute to the development of more sustainable and productive horticultural systems.

Program Overview
The program includes:

• Market orientation visits in Thailand and Malaysia
• Participation in the Netherlands Lounge at HortEx 2026 (20–22 May, Bangkok)
• Knowledge sessions and seminars with regional experts
• Networking events and matchmaking meetings
• Field visits to horticultural production sites and local partners
• Meetings with Agricultural Counsellors from the Dutch embassies in Bangkok, Hanoi and Jakarta

These activities will provide participants with direct access to local stakeholders, potential partners, and market insights across the region.

The Netherlands Lounge at HortEx 2026
At HortEx 2026, Dutch companies will jointly present their innovations under the Netherlands Lounge, demonstrating the strength of the Dutch horticultural ecosystem.

The showcase will highlight solutions in:

• Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA)
• Greenhouse technology and climate control
• Plant breeding and propagation
• Circular horticulture
• Post-harvest innovation
• Sustainable crop production technologies
