Royal Victoria wins Golden Rose in Paris

Roses Forever has achieved The Golden Rose. The rose competition was held this year on Wednesday, June 18, 2026, in Park Bagatelle in Paris, France.

The award-winning garden rose Royal Victoria, developed for H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, was named the very best rose in the competition after an extensive evaluation over two years. The roses are continuously evaluated by national & international specialists throughout the period, with particular emphasis on health and robustness. The evaluation can achieve a maximum of 100 points. Points are awarded according to the rules drawn up by the WFRS (World Federation Of Rose Societies) with a maximum of 30 points for the appearance of the rose, a maximum of 30 points for the beauty of the flower, a maximum of 30 points for the health of the plant and a maximum of 10 points for fragrance.

In Park Bagatelle, the roses must prove their worth under natural conditions. Here, Royal Victoria distinguished itself with a rare combination of strong health, abundant flowering and an intense rose fragrance.

“The roses must be healthy and resistant, look good and smell good – and also be suitable for a bouquet in the living room,” says Rosa Eskelund, head breeder at Roses Forever.

At Roses Forever, all new rose varieties are tested in Denmark for 8-10 years – before they are sent out into the world.

This is not the first time that Roses Forever has received the international honor. In 2021, Royal Estelle Plant’n’Relax won the Golden Rose in Baden-Baden, Germany, and now Royal Victoria Plant’n’Relax follows suit with the triumph in Paris.
