Six of the top 10 back France, while the top two are backing Spain

France’s 2-0 victory over Morocco came as no surprise to many of the top 10 participants in the World Cup Pool on Fresh Publishers. Ahead of today’s Spain v Belgium match, the top 10 is also largely in agreement. Only Frank Meulewaeter expects a victory for his home country, Belgium. The rest are backing Spain to win.

As a result, there are few changes in the standings. Fresh produce lawyer Hans Borsboom (HerikLegal) remains in the lead, 94 points ahead of Canadian Slim Kooli from fresh produce wholesaler Courchesne Larose. Meulewaeter remains in third place. Vijay Dijkstra of Holland Floricultural Services is fourth, whilst Bjorn van Ryckeghem of the Belgian company Deprez Construct stays in fifth place.

Hüseyin Eralp from Zurich correctly predicted France’s 2-0 victory and moves up to sixth place. Christian Anton Smedshaug of Landkreditt in Norway climbs to seventh, ahead of Claude Toupin of C Y Grower Supplies in Canada and Jose Juan Garcia Teruel of the Spanish transport company JCarrion. Tim Post of Van der Mark Ketelonderhoud makes his debut in the top 10.

The final three quarter-final matches will be played this weekend, leaving only a handful of matches remaining in the tournament. However, participants can still earn a considerable number of points by correctly predicting the tournament’s top scorer and the total number of goals, yellow cards, and red cards, each worth up to 40 points. The biggest points haul, however, comes from predicting the eventual winner, which is worth 250 points.

No fewer than six of the current top 10 are predicting France to win the tournament, whilst the top two are backing Spain. Vijay Dijkstra appears to be out of contention with his prediction of Portugal, but Christian Anton Smedshaug could still spring a surprise with his choice of England.
