Working together for a more efficient digital supply chain

The Sector Platform Consultation on 25 March 2026 discussed a number of important developments affecting further digitisation and cooperation in the floriculture industry. The consultation focused on how we as an industry are jointly taking steps towards more efficient processes, a better-functioning digital chain and future-proof solutions for growers and buyers.

A key topic of discussion was cooperation within the digital chain. Among other things, FM Group explained the implementation process they went through to link procurement systems to Floriday. At FM Group, these steps help further streamline ordering, logistics and administrative processes. The joint ambition is clear: fewer errors, less manual work and more reliability and predictability in daily practice.

Growth of digital ordering
The ordering behaviour of buyers was also discussed. The digital placement of orders through Floriday continues to grow. This trend is already evident in plants, and significant growth has also been seen in flowers recently. Digital ordering ensures uniform recording and exchange of information and helps prevent errors in the chain. At the same time, it was mentioned that telephone ordering is still common, especially at fixed times during the week. This contributes less to process improvement and efficiency.

Logistics and Track & Trace
In the area of logistics and Track & Trace, the first steps have been taken to make logistics scans visible in Floriday. This makes it easier to understand where products are within the chain. To make Track & Trace truly valuable to growers and buyers, it is important that more parties connect, including carriers. It was stressed within the Sector Platform that cooperation and joint agreements are essential to achieve sufficient scale and impact.

Further Floriday development
An update was also given on the further development of Floriday. Within flowers, the focus is specifically on a targeted approach by product group, to work with growers and buyers on wider adoption of Floriday. Improvements in ease-of-use and functionality, including a revamped way of customer offering for flower growers, are among the things being worked on. Security was also on the agenda, focusing on the phased introduction of Multi-Factor Authentication, taking into account different user situations.

Looking ahead
Finally, it looked ahead to topics that will be explored in greater detail in upcoming consultations, including the follow-up steps around Track & Trace. These themes require cooperation from all sector players. To this end, the Sector Platform provides a place to share experiences and jointly give direction to the further development of the digital chain.
